The Southern California Nevada Cycling Association (SCNCA) is the USA Cycling (USAC) recognized local association for the Southern California and
Southern Nevada. Their mission is to conduct, coordinate, and seek the advancement of USA
Cycling activities in Southern California and Southern Nevada and are also committed to creating programs to assist riders in the development
of their competitive skills and to ensure safe competition.
KOOL 'N FIT® "SPORT CONDITIONING FLUID" is a powerful, all natural external muscle spray for better performance and health in sports.
Used before exercise to prepare the body, during sports to invigorate, and afterwards to recover faster. It is easy to use, non-staining,
and greaseless. Used worldwide by many professional athletes, teams, trainers, and coaches to train and compete at the highest possible level.
Realizing that one great challenge deserves another, the Best Buddies Challenge: Hearst Castle has formed a promotional partnership with one
of the most dynamic cycling series in America, the SCNCA Women’s Cycling Challenge.
The Southern California women’s racing series is one of America’s fastest growing cycling initiatives, with more than 2,000 women lining up for clinics, socials, and races during the season. In addition to raising heart rates, average speeds, and eyebrows, the women who organize the series will also help to raise funds and awareness to provide services for people with intellectual disabilities.
“We could not find a better group of people to partner with for our event,” said Richard Fries, marketing director of the Best Buddies Friendship Rides. “These are healthy, high-energy women who are jazzed about cycling. Could you pick anybody better to generate buzz about our charity and about our ride?”
Co-founded in 2006 by cycling enthusiast and long-time elite cyclist, Dorothy Wong, the 19-race Women’s Cycling Challenge series also offers several clinics, a network of clubs, a website, and several training rides geared to support women interested in the sport and cycling of lifestyle. “I wanted to share my love of cycling and competition with newer riders and give back to a sport that has been so good to me over the years… the Best Buddies ride is a great CHALLENGE for all riders and we are looking forward to doing our part for this very special event and cause.”
The Audi Best Buddies Challenge: Hearst Castle is a 100-mile charity ride held Sept. 8. In its fourth year, this event is considered the only five-star ride. Starting at Château Julien Wine Estate in Carmel, cyclists ride the spectacular Pacific Coast Highway past Big Sur, over the Bixby Bridge, and beneath the beam of the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse before finishing at the Hearst Castle in San Simeon. First Lady of California Maria Shriver serves as Honorary Chairperson and will be riding in the event, which also includes a 15-mile course beginning at Ragged Point. Once there, riders are pampered with massage, dinner, an open bar, and a concert featuring the legendary band, Cheap Trick.
The ride benefits Best Buddies International, a nonprofit organization founded in 1989 by Anthony K. Shriver dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing them with opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment.
“The Audi Best Buddies Challenge: Hearst Castle is an event I truly believe in because it supports the work done by Best Buddies benefiting people with intellectual disabilities, while also promoting exercise and providing families with an opportunity to do something together that is beneficial to their health,” says First Lady of California and event chair Maria Shriver. “I am proud to say that this event is the largest national fundraiser for Best Buddies – a true testament to the generosity and spirit of Californians.”
Founder and chairman Anthony K. Shriver says, “The Challenge is an amazing event because it inspires people to become engaged in Best Buddies long after the ride has ended. People go home and find out how to be a part of their local chapter, they decide to hire people with intellectual disabilities at their companies and they encourage their children to volunteer. That’s the best you can hope for from any fundraiser.”
About Best Buddies International

Incycle Bicycles is a partner in this
year's 2006 Women's Cycling Challenge and has been in business for over ten years from Chino to San Dimas to Pasadena.
At Jax we treat our clients
as guests in our own home. We celebrate cycling, not just selling products. Let us assist you with any questions you may have whether it’s where
to ride, which helmet to use or what to take on your Trek Travel adventure!
Thinking of buying a new bicycle? One of your first choices, and not necessarily an easy one, will be where to shop. It can be a challenge because there are a myriad of stores that carry two-wheelers, from specialty retailers, to giant department stores, to backyard garage operations. We make bike buying easy and fun.
Where you buy, however, has everything to do with what you get. You see, bicycles aren't like toasters or suitcases. Bikes are shipped in boxes and they must be assembled and tuned.
There are many types, too, and you should never buy until you've figured out which is right for you. Measurements and adjustments are required to ensure the frame is the correct size and that the seat and handlebars are properly positioned. And, every new bicycle will need a minor tune-up after several weeks of use.
What's more, modern road and mountain bikes can travel at high speeds and carry you over demanding terrain where the machine's materials and construction get tested. A quality two-wheeler, carefully assembled and fit to you, will be the safest, most durable and fun bicycle to ride.
For these reasons, we strongly recommend shopping at a good specialty bicycle store. For instance, we hire competent salespeople and expert mechanics who'll ensure that you get the right bike and a quality machine. Look for a store that's clean, has helpful personnel, offers a good selection, and an on-site repair department.
Bikes like no others. Shaped to fit your form. Designed to be more fun. Obsessively engineered for women riders down to the smallest detail. From handlebars to frames and tires. You’ll ride farther and faster than you ever imagined. Féminine bicycles from Cannondale—an incomparable blend of performance and design.
Cannondale's Women’s collection features attractive styling, moisture-wicking technical fabrics, cycling-specific extras and top quality construction—but we don’t stop there. For the utmost in cycling performance, we’ve crafted these garments with precise, gender-specific tailoring to conform precisely with the shape of the female anatomy. The resulting line is a versatile, coordinating apparel system that will keep you riding comfortably (and looking great) through an enormous range of temperatures and conditions. We invite you to feel the difference for yourself.
Alpha Q pioneered all-carbon
forks and Carbon Rooting Technology CRT™. Alpha Q craftsmen were interested in carbon fiber as a component material early on in the development lab. Dismayed with the
weight and performance of forks on the market—and unwilling to compromise by adding non-carbon materials to the fork structure—Alpha
Q was committed to pushing known materials and manufacturing limitations.
Developing our first all-carbon fork in 1992, the team patented Alpha Q Carbon Rooting Technology CRT™ which integrates the steerer into the fork body using a rooting technique to provide continuous fiber throughout the fork for superb strength and incredible stiffness. This technology is used at the Alpha Q composite facility in El Cajon, California. Led by a team of carbon fiber specialists, competitive cyclists, triathletes and former aerospace engineers, Alpha Q continues to refine designs, materials, and manufacturing techniques creating the lightest, fastest components on earth.
Anaerobic Zone is pleased to announce the
introduction of the first complete Bicycle Protection System (Patent Pending) for bikes mounted on indoor trainers. It protects the bike’s
components (stem, headset, handlebar, fork, brakes, front derailluer, front wheel assembly, computers and the frame’s finish) against costly
corrosion caused by perspiration.
Durable and sweatproof—constructed from nylon with a waterproof vinyl backing. The clear viewing window is the same material used in
convertible top rear windows.
What good is a fancy bike, heart rate monitor or that cute jersey if you're stuck on the side of the trail or road? Sorry Betty, there is no AAA for bikes on the Slickrock trail or on your favorite country road. Remember what your Mom always said... "Be Prepared! Plan for the worst." That way if you run over some glass or hit a sharp rock you won't have to walk out or risk having some macho guy hit on you as he helps you out!
Kit Includes: 23 oz. H20 bottle, tearproof/weatherproof take-along instructions, Glueless Patches (you don't want to mess with glue!), CO2 Inflator and cartridge (quick and easy to use), 2 Tire Levers.
Bring Betty.

Save the Planet One Green Step at a TimeWant to find ways to save the planet, but don’t know where to begin? Now it's simple, with the new book It’s Easy Being Green (Gibbs Smith, Publisher; $12.95), a helpful resource for all things environmentally friendly. Founder of the online activism site GreenMatters.com, Crissy Trask's new guidebook contains innumerable tips, habits, and reasons to conserve natural resources, decrease air and water pollutants and cleanse our communities of unnecessary waste.
"Green" describes a product or methodology that causes less harm to the environment than other similar products or methods. Trask sets this as the structural base for advising consumers on how to purchase cars, groceries, home appliances and personal care products the green way.
Some of the eco-friendly tips Trask lists in her book include:
Trask says that her book serves as a guideline for people who are wanting to learn more about the most efficient and cost effective ways to conserve energies and protect the environment. With everything from common "green living" myths debunked, to tips on how to have an eco-friendly home and garden, Trask compiles exhaustive methods for recycling, reusing, sharing, and purchasing less. This book is a firm reminder that being mindful of waste and excessive spending, both of man made and natural resources, will allow the earth's population of humans, plants and animals to live healthier and greener lives.
Trask has compiled definitive lists of green online retailers, resources and organizations aimed to conquer environmental issues and a chapter devoted to how people can become advocates for the green factor both nationally and within local communities.
Crissy Trask is the sole proprietor of GreenMatters, a business started in 1999 to advance environmental education and activism online. She delivers solutions-oriented home and lifestyle evaluations to clients of her business' consulting arm. Women's Adventure
Magazine is the only women's specific outdoor sports magazine on the planet. Filled with inspiration and information,
Women's Adventure
keeps you up to date on climbing, hiking, backpacking, paddling, snowboarding, skiing, cycling, adventure travel, and all the women who are leading the
way in each sport.
Women's Adventure was started as Dandelion magazine in 2003 with the tagline The Magazine for Women Who Thrive in the Wild. Michelle Theall, a former Women's Sports + Fitness magazine staffer, missed having an authentic and adventurous (non-weight loss driven) magazine around, so she started her own. In 2006, Theall relaunched the title under its current and permanent name Women's Adventure, so that other kindred spirits would know there was a magazine just for them—even if they only saw the first three inches of the top of the publication, sticking out at a newsstand behind the others. The title is headed into its 4th year in business and is proud to represent the 70 million women who participate in outdoor sports.
