2007 WAS A GREAT SUCCESS! STAY TUNED FOR 2008 INFORMATION IN LATE FALL.

Thank you to Julia Cross for all her efforts in getting more ladies on the track! In 2006 she wanted more ladies to compete with on the velodrome, and with determination and a L.O.T. of hard work, she has been very successful!

As part of the John Fitzpatrick and Dave Staub Memorial Far West
Championships,a special category well suited to First time women's track racers will be offered.

Saturday, September 1st, starting at 1:00 PM the Encino Velodrome will
have three races exclusively for Category 4 Women Track Racers.
Riders may do as many or as few of the following races for one low
entry fee: Scratch, Points Race, Miss n Out

In addition, for $10 each, ANY rider may compete in the 500 m (2 lap)
and/or the 1 km (4 lap) Time Trials on Sunday afternoon.

The race flyer and registration information is available at
RACE FLYER
Pre-registration is available at on-line

Race day registration will be available from 12:00 noon until 12:45
both Saturday and Sunday.

If you've ever thought about trying track racing,
Saturday September 1st at the Encino Velodrome is the perfect
opportunity to come out and see what all the fun is about.

WHAT ARE THESE RACES?

6 Lap Scratch Race, a Miss & Out and a 20 Lap Points Race.

The scratch race is the simplest - whomever crosses the start/finish
line first after six laps is the winner.

A miss & out is a favorite of racers and spectators alike.
Upon crossing the start/finish line on laps that follow the ringing of
the bell,
the last rider across the line is "eliminated" (asked to withdraw from
the race).
Requiring a combination of brains and brawn, the results can sometimes
be surprising, and the racing is always fun!

A points race is like a bunch of scratch races run back to back.
On laps that follow the ringing of the bell, points are awarded to the
first four riders across the start/finish line,
5 points to first place, 3 points to second place, 2 points to third
place and 1 point to fourth place.
But the race isn't over after the first sprint. If at first you don't
succeed, try, try again!
The racer with the highest point total at the end of the race wins!
